Those who enjoy the taste of craft draft beer now have another option.

Middletown Fine Wine and Spirits, 721 S. Breiel Blvd., recently purchased a Growler machine that draws draft beer out of a keg that is stored in a refrigerator and disperses 64 ounces into a tinted glass bottle. Sanket Patel, manager of the store for two years, said the beer, if unopened, will remain fresh for up to 30 days.Once the jug has been opened, Patel said, the beer will stay fresh for 36 hours.The price for 64 ounces — four ounces more than five cans of beer — of craft beer ranges from $8.99 to $30, depending on the beer and its availability, Patel said. Typically, there are about 16 craft beers on tap in the store, mostly from smaller breweries in the Dayton and Cincinnati areas. The beers are not available in cans or bottles, so customers can purchase the craft beers without having to buy an entire keg, he said.Patel said so far the response to the Growler has been “very good,” and most of his customers are in their 20s and 30s.Once a customers […]
