Bridging Cities One Beer at a Time Its hard to believe that today is July 1st and along with this arrival the first day of Oregon Craft Beer Month . We are also just 3 weeks away from the kickoff to the Oregon Brewers Festival that takes place from July 23rd to 27th.

This year OBF organizers are hosting “Bridging Cities: One Beer at a Time” that will highlight 11 Dutch and 1 German craft brewers at this years festival. To help us celebrate their arrival, the Raccoon Lodge & Brew Pub, the Portland Dutch Society and the Portland Utrecht Network are welcoming the guest brewers on Saturday, July 19, from Noon to 3pm at the Raccoon Lodge .

Bridging Cities: One Beer at a Time will feature Bierbrouwerij Emelisse, Brouwerij Rodenburg, Brouwerij ‘t IJ, Microbrouwerij Rooie Dop, Brouwerij Maximus, Brouwerij Duits & Lauret, Brouwerij de Molen, Oedipus Brewing, Het Uiltje, Oersoep & Ramses Bier, all from the Netherlands; plus Brauerei Nothhaf from Germany for an even dozen.

Its that time of year again when Cascade Brewing will be releasing their ever popular Kriek. Yes, Kriek 2013 will be released on draft and in bottles at the and Barrel House on Thursday, March 20th at 4:30pm. This NW style sour red ale is a blend of red ales aged in oak barrels for up to eight months, then aged on fresh Bing and sour pie cherries for an additional six months. Aromas of rich, dark cherries, oak and slight hints of cinnamon are noticed up front. Dark, tart cherries and light spice notes dance on the palate, leading to a rich, dark, sparkling finish of tart cherries and oak all at 8.2% ABV. 750ml Bottles will be priced at $20 each with no limit. And if you do not live anywhere near Portland you’re in luck, Cascade will be selling this year’s Kriek through their online store also beginning at 4:30pm. More below… The Vine 2013 will be released on draft and in bottles at the Raccoon Lodge, Barrel House and online this Thursday, March 6th at 4:30pm PST. This NW style sour ale is a blend of blond and wheat ales that were barrel aged for up to 12 months before aging on fresh pressed white grape must for an additional three months. Aromas of sweet foxy grape skins and hints of cotton candy are noticed up front. Rich, sweet white grape notes dance on the palate, leading to a pronounced finish of sweet grape flesh. 9.3% ABV, $6.5 8oz Glass, $2 Taster, $20 750ml Bottle. Cascade Barrel House Cascade Brewing is gearing up for two big bottle releases over the course of the next week. Cascade is set to release Cerise Nouveau and The Bourbonic Plague in 750ml bottles exclusively at their Barrel House and Raccoon Lodge . The releases will take place on December 12th and 19th, both beginning at 4:30pm. First up will be the release of Cerise Nouveau on Thursday, December 12th beginning at 4:30pm. This release is only available at the Barrel House and Raccoon Lodge. The price is set at $25 per 750 ml, with a 6 bottle limit. This Northwest style sour red ale is the Beaujolais Nouveau of cherry beers. It’s a blend of red ales aged in oak barrels for up to eight months, then aged on fresh Bing cherries for an additional three months. It’s best consumed now through the holidays with friends and possibly close family members.
